Kenya · East Africa
Amboseli and the southern parks.
Amboseli is elephant country beneath Kilimanjaro, and gives the single most recognisable view in East Africa.

The park is small and the game viewing is concentrated around its swamps, which makes it a two-night stop rather than a week. Its elephant families are among the most studied on the continent.
Tsavo East and Tsavo West, between Nairobi and the coast, are vast by comparison and far less visited — red-dust country that suits a traveller who has already done the classics.

- The Kenyan coastThe coast is Swahili rather than safari — a distinct culture, architecture and cuisine along the Indian Ocean.
