What this website collects

One thing: what someone types into the enquiry form. That is a name and email address, and optionally a country of residence, a phone or WhatsApp number, a destination, who is travelling, a budget range, rough dates, and whatever notes are written about the trip.

There is nothing else. This site has no accounts, no logins and no payment pages, and it never asks for a passport, an identity document or a card number. Anything of that kind belongs later in a booking, handled directly rather than through a web form.

What happens to an enquiry

It is emailed to Famous Africa and answered. That is the whole purpose, and the information is used to plan and quote the trip being asked about.

Where arranging that trip means booking with a lodge, camp, airline or ground operator, the details those suppliers need are passed to them. That only happens as part of arranging a trip that has been asked for.

Enquiries are not sold, rented or shared with anyone else, and nobody is added to a mailing list for filling in the form.

Cookies, and why there are none

This website sets no cookies. There is no tracking pixel, no advertising tag and no third-party analytics script following visitors between sites.

Visitor numbers are counted using Vercel Analytics, which is cookieless: it records page views and coarse aggregate figures such as country and device type, without a cross-site identifier and without building a profile of anyone. That is why no cookie banner appears — there is nothing to consent to.

Who else handles the information

A small number of service providers, each doing one job: Vercel hosts the website, Cloudflare provides its DNS, Postmark delivers the enquiry email, and Afrihost hosts the mailbox it arrives in.

These providers process information on instruction and for no purpose of their own. Between them it means an enquiry is handled on servers outside South Africa, including in the European Union and the United States.

How long it is kept

Enquiries are kept while a trip is being planned and discussed, and afterwards as part of the record of a booking, because bookings carry tax and liability obligations that outlast the travel itself.

An enquiry that never becomes a booking is not kept indefinitely. Anyone who would rather it were deleted sooner can ask, and it will be.

Your rights over your information

South African law gives everyone the right to ask what personal information is held about them, to have it corrected if it is wrong, to have it deleted, and to object to how it is being used. Visitors from the United Kingdom and European Union have equivalent rights under the UK GDPR and GDPR.

Exercising any of them takes an email to safari@famous-africa.com. There is no form to complete and no charge for asking.

Anyone unhappy with how a request was handled can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa, or to their own national data protection authority.

Children

This website is not directed at children and the enquiry form is intended to be completed by an adult. Where a trip includes children, their details are given by the adult arranging the travel.

Changes to this policy

If what the site does with personal information changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top is updated. The date is the reliable part — it says when this description was last checked against the site as it actually works.
