Every nationality can get a Madagascar tourist eVisa online or on arrival. Since 16 February 2026 fees start at €30 for stays of up to 15 days.

Do I need a visa to visit Madagascar?
Madagascar's tourist eVisa is open to all nationalities, and the official portal states that the fee is the same whether you apply online or buy the visa on arrival. The government address, evisamada.gov.mg, currently redirects to evisamada-mg.com, which is also the portal the Ministry of Tourism links to.
Apply between one week and six months before departure; authorisations are issued within 72 hours. The eVisa is single entry for up to 60 days and can be extended to 90 days at an immigration office.

How much does a Madagascar visa cost?
From 16 February 2026 the official portal lists €30 (US$35) for up to 15 days, €35 for 16 to 30 days, €40 for 31 to 60 days and €50 for 61 to 90 days.
The UK government's advice, updated on 9 September 2026, still describes a 15-day visa-free stay with a €10 fee, as does the French government's. Confirm the fee for a short stay when you apply.

What passport and health requirements does Madagascar have?
The UK government advises a passport valid for six months after arrival, with two blank pages. A yellow fever certificate is required for travellers aged nine months or older arriving from a country with yellow fever risk, or after more than 12 hours in transit at an airport in one.
All arrivals complete a health declaration and screening. The UK government reports that travellers who have been in or passed through an Ebola-affected country in the previous 21 days may be refused entry.

What else should I know before arriving in Madagascar?
Madagascar Customs requires all foreign currency brought in to be declared, with proof of exchange needed above €1,000. The UK government advises that no food, including fruit, may be brought in, and that a child under 18 leaving Madagascar without one or both parents needs written authorisation from the absent parent.
