Do I need a visa to visit Uganda?
Uganda's Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control strongly encourages visa applications online, at visas.immigration.go.ug. Once approved, an approval letter is emailed: print it, and border officials issue the visa on arrival. Uganda warns that any other website offering its visas is an attempt to defraud.
Nationals of Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan, among others, need no visa. The full list is on the immigration directorate's site.

Do I need a yellow fever certificate for Uganda?
Yes. Uganda requires a yellow fever certificate from all travellers aged one year or over, wherever they arrive from. Carry the physical certificate, which you may be asked to show, and upload a copy if your visa application asks for it.
Uganda's Civil Aviation Authority says arrivals without one are vaccinated at their own cost, about US$40. Uganda is also on the yellow fever lists of South Africa and Tanzania, so the next country on your route will ask for the certificate too.

The World Health Organization declared Uganda's Ebola outbreak over on 27 August 2026; Uganda closed its border with the Democratic Republic of Congo on 27 May 2026 while the outbreak there continues.

Where this sits in planning a trip
Entry requirements are the traveller’s responsibility, but they shape an itinerary — a routing through a third country can change what is needed, and documents for children can take weeks to obtain. Famous Africa raises them early when planning rather than leaving them to the week before departure.
